Pigment removal

Study the pigment first. Then decide whether it can go.

Permanent makeup that healed too dark, too blue, or into a shape that is no longer yours can be lifted — but not in one go, and not with a price quoted over the phone. The work is done with glycolic acid: implanted over the pigmented area, it triggers a controlled inflammation that pushes pigment toward the surface. A scab forms, and when it lifts it takes colour with it. This runs in sessions, weeks apart, and it starts with a free assessment of what you have and what can realistically be expected.

Procedure

How it works, step by step

  1. 1

    Assessing the pigment

Depth, saturation, true colour under proper light, age and the technique used. That is what the likely session count and the quote come from.

  2. 2

    A small test area

Before treating a whole brow we work one small patch and wait to see how your skin responds. Not every skin reacts the same way.

  3. 3

    Applying the glycolic

The solution is implanted over the pigment only, with depth and contact time controlled, working section by section.

  4. 4

    The scab forms

Over the following days a scab builds over the area. That scab is the part of the process that carries pigment out, and it is left alone.

  5. 5

    Wait, then reassess

The skin gets a full 6–8 weeks to heal before the result is judged and another pass is considered.

Benefits

What you gain

It leaves the skin: pigment is drawn out with the scab rather than shattered for the body to absorb.
Corrects as well as erases: often nothing needs to disappear entirely — lightening enough to redesign over it is the real goal.
No laser required: it does not depend on a medical device or on whether your pigment responds to light.
Decided on evidence: the test patch shows how your skin responds before a whole brow is committed.
Who it's for

The right choice if…

  • An old microblading or powder brow that has turned red, grey or blue.
  • A shape that does not suit your face and you would rather start over.
  • Work that healed too saturated, or with strokes heavier than you asked for.
  • You want new pigment but the area has to be lightened first, so colour is not stacked on colour.
  • You would rather understand what is achievable before paying anything: the assessment is free.
Preparation

The days before your appointment

What to do
Bring photos of the original work and, if you know them, the date and technique.
Come with no makeup on the area.
Tell us about any tendency to keloids or to marks after a wound: it changes the decision.
What to avoid
· Retinol, acids or exfoliants on the area for 7 days prior.
· Heavy sun exposure or tanning within the previous 2 weeks.
· A recent removal attempt, at home or at another studio, without mentioning it.
· Pigmenting over it 'to cover' while you wait for the appointment: it complicates the work.
Not recommended

When this isn't your treatment

Removal is harder on the skin than the micropigmentation itself, and it is not for everyone. Saying so beforehand is part of the service. It is not performed in these cases:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • A tendency to keloid or hypertrophic scarring · the risk of permanent scarring is real
  • An open wound, dermatitis or sunburn on the area
  • Uncontrolled diabetes or active oncological treatment · both affect healing directly
  • Anticoagulants or clotting disorders
  • Micropigmentation less than 8 weeks old
  • Isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last 6 months

How much pigment goes

Each session lightens; it does not erase. Two to six sessions is typical, and some pigment never leaves completely — particularly heavily saturated or deeply implanted work. What is realistic for your case is settled at the assessment, not here.

Aftercare

Healing timeline

  1. Days 1–2 Swelling

The area is red, swollen and tender. That is the expected reaction, not a complication.

  2. Days 3–7 The scab forms

A thicker scab than a micropigmentation leaves. Keep it dry and leave it alone.

  3. Days 8–14 It lifts on its own

The scab comes away by itself, carrying pigment with it. Picking it is what causes scarring.

  4. Weeks 3–6 Pink skin

The area stays lighter and pink while it regenerates. The final colour is not visible yet.

  5. Weeks 6–8 Reassessment

Only now can we see how much pigment left and decide whether another session is needed.

The real outcome of a session is not visible until weeks 6–8, once the skin has finished recovering. Nothing is judged or repeated before then.

What to avoid while it heals
· Getting the area wet beyond the unavoidable: the scab must stay dry.
· Touching, scratching or picking the scab, however tempting.
· Direct sun without protection until the skin is back to its own tone.
· Makeup over the area until it has healed completely.
· Sauna, pool and hard workouts for the first week.

FAQ

Pigment removal questions

Why is there no price on this page?

Because an honest price depends on what you have. Lightening a one-year-old microblading is not the same job as a saturated five-year-old one, and one brow is not the same as two. A figure here would be invented. The assessment is free and produces a written quote.

How many sessions will I need?

Typically between 2 and 6, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart, depending on depth, saturation and pigment type. After the first session we can see how your skin responds and the estimate gets adjusted.

Will all of it come out?

Not always, and I would rather say so first. Heavily saturated or deeply implanted pigment can leave a residual shadow. In many cases lightening enough to redesign over it is the actual goal, and that is very achievable.

Can it leave a scar?

That is the main risk, which is why there is an assessment and a test patch. The process forms a thicker scab than a micropigmentation does, and picking it is the most common cause of scarring. If you are prone to keloids the treatment is not performed.

Does it hurt more than getting brows done?

The session itself feels similar, with topical anesthetic. The difference comes after: swelling runs higher for the first few days and the scab is more uncomfortable than a micropigmentation's.

When can I get pigment again?

Never sooner than 8 weeks after the last removal session, and only once the skin has fully recovered. Pigmenting over skin that is still regenerating gives a patchy result.
